Official: Leonardo says Bye, Bye Milan!

AC Milan will finish another trophy-less season tonight when they play their final game of their 2009-10 campaign against rivals Juventus. This will be the last game in which head coach Leonardo is in charge of AC Milan! It’s Leonardo’s last game as Milan head coach as he will wave bye-bye to the fans at the end of the game. Speculations in Italy are already geared towards Marcello Lippi taking over after the end of the World Cup.

Here is who Leonardo commented on his exit in front of the official club website: “The Champions League objective, which I cared a lot about, has been reached and this morning, at Via Turati, we have decided to make the decision official.  I’m a Milan product, I never knew what it meant to be a coach. It was an extraordinary thing, but I don’t know if I will do it in the future. Surely not in the coming years.

“For me it was an extraordinary enrichment. Now the time to end it with tranquility, like we have always done everything. Detaching myself from Milan is not easy, because Milan gave me the opportunity to do everything: whatever I learnt, I learnt it from Adriano Galliani and here at Milan.”
